I had the pleasure of receiving for review the Solar-Breeze NX robotic solar pool cleaner from Solar Pool Technologies recently. We are blessed to have an in-ground pool at our house but with that comes lot’s of maintenance to keep the pool in tip top shape and clean for us to use. One of the biggest issues we have is the dirt and debris that remains on the top of the pool surface that the in-ground pool cleaner never gets a chance to collect. My husband was outside every day scooping up leaves and twigs from the surface of the pool and hating every minute. When I found the Solar-Breeze NX I was thrilled to tell him how this product would eliminate the chore of daily scooping the pool to remove the debris that remained floating on the pool surface. Our Solar-Breeze NX has now freed my husband up to do other chores and he is thrilled.
Your Solar-Breeze NX removes up to 95% of the debris from the surface before it sinks to the bottom of your pool. As a result of having a Solar-Breeze NX, less bottom cleaning and less filtration is required for your pool. Solar-Breeze NX owners will reduce their pool pump usage by 1/2 to 2/3 saving hundreds of dollars a year on their electric bills. Our electric bills during the summer months (between the central air conditioning and the pool pump running constantly) are an average of $500/month. Any product that will reduce that bill is definitely a welcome addition to our home. According to the testimonials given by Solar-Breeze NX owners they have found the investment they make in the Solar-Breeze NX is paid back through lower electric costs in less than a year.
General Description and Operation:
The Solar-Breeze NX is an intelligent autonomous robot that navigates the surface of your swimming pool to collect leaves, debris, bugs, dust, pollen and suntan lotions that float on the surface of the water. It is powered by solar energy and a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. It requires no hoses or power cords to operate. Just remove your Solar-Breeze NX from the box, read the instructions and place the unit in your pool switching it to the “on” position and it’s ready to go. Nothing more to do but allow the Solar-Breeze NX to do it’s job.
Power and Charging your Solar-Breeze NX:
The Solar-Breeze NX is powered by direct sunlight. While operating in the sunlight it will collect and store surplus solar power in the rechargeable batter. On a normal sunny day it will store enough energy to allow the Solar-Breeze NX to continue working for several hours after your pool is no longer in direct sunlight. When the battery reaches a pre-determined low-voltage level the unit will shut down automatically primarily after dark. There is no need to remove your Solar-Breeze NX when this happens as it will continue to float in the pol for the balance of the night with the control panel and blue navigation LED lights flashing. In the morning when there is direct sunlight on the pool the unit will re-start automatically.
Propulsion and Debris Collection:
The Solar Breeze NX is equipped with paddle-wheels in the front and rear of the unit to propel it through the water to capture debris in the collection chamber inside the unit. As water passes through the collection tray it passes through a fine mesh filter removing large and very small particles, pollen, dust, bugs and even suntan oils that may be floating on the pool’s surface. The Solar-Breeze NX has twice the capacity of your typical skimmer basket.
The Solar-Breeze NX has bumper-wheels at the front of the unit that rotate in opposite directions towards the outside of the unit. When the Solar-Breeze NX encounters the edge of your pool or pool corner the bumper-wheels will automatically cause the unit to turn in one direction or the other and continue to move around the pool capturing debris. If the Solar-Breeze NX encounters and obstruction in the pool where the front bumper-wheels are not in contact with the edge of the pool and cannot aid in navigation, it will sense that it is stuck and go into a reverse navigation mode. With the absence of obstacles, the Solar-Breeze NX will still reverse periodically to help randomize the direction it travels to ensure that all the areas of the pool are cleaned.
Cleaning the Collection Tray:
The Solar-Breeze has a see through collection window so that you will be able to tell at a glance when the collection area is full. Simply turn off the Solar-Breeze NX, lift the unit out of the pool using ONLY the front handle and empty the collection tray. More instructions on cleaning the collection tray can be found in your owners manual.
Your Solar-Breeze NX has an added feature, a built in Chlorine dispenser that will accommodate two (2) 3″ jumbo Chlorine tablets. This feature insures even distribution of chemicals in your pool. The company recommends that you use no less than (2) Chlorine tablets at one time as using only (1) may cause the unit to navigate to only the right or the left causing uneven distribution of the chemical.
We have prepared a video demonstration so you can see how the Solar-Breeze NX works to eliminate the daily scooping of dirt and debris in your pool.

In closing I would just like to say how much we LOVE our Solar-Breeze NX pool cleaner. It truly has been a blessing and time saver for my husband in the cleaning and maintenance of our pool. The Solar-Breeze NX will also work on above ground pools. If you have an above or in-ground pool you can appreciate the time and effort that is put forth every summer season (or for some all year long) maintaining and and keeping your pool clean and free of contaminants. A Solar-Breeze NX is the best tool we have found to date that does an amazing job of cleaning and maintaining our pool. I highly recommend this product and hope that anyone with a pool will choose a Solar-Breeze NX.
